OUR BIOGRAPHY

Artax was formed around 9-10 years ago by Callum Warrender, who initially began the project as a solo artist. What started as a solo project in Amsterdam whilst working as a resident DJ, quickly grew arms and legs as over the years, as Callum consistently released numerous EPs over the years, building a following through performing at Synthwave festivals in Scotland and an online YouTube community. 

 

Fast forward to late 2019, Artax welcomed Katie Wills onboard as the front woman, lead vocalist and lyricist. Moving forward as a duo, Callum and Katie began to further evolve the Artax sound, blending together the unique sound of Artax with heavier and theatrical elements. As a duo, Callum and Katie consistently released singles, EPs/short albums as well as building the Artax name within the Glasgow music scene.

 

It was at a support slot gig in the Strathclyde Uni Union that they met Ellis Sparks, currently also a bassist for Fate Has Favourites. From there, the duo evolved into a trio as they brought onboard Ellis as the bassist Artax. Gigging now as a 3-piece, Artax began pulling in even more support slots as well as headliners throughout Glasgow and Edinburgh and also competed in a showcase to play abroad. 

 

Artax became a 4-piece when Bob Irving contacted the band ensuring as to whether they were looking for a drummer....which they were....some would say it was fate, as Bob did indeed join the band and Artax, became one whole group. With Bob onboard, the group immediately got to work on a new music video, new music and gigs. 

 

With Artax' sound ever changing and evolving, it's an exciting time for the band as they further delve into different sounds and build the Artax name across the UK and globally.
